What is The Longest Climb?

Tom Lancaster and Jonny Briggs are attempting to do something that no-one has ever done before. They’re not business big-shots, or famous celebrities, or anything particularly special, but they can climb, and they want to make a difference. So, in March 2011, in aid of Mountain Rescue England and Wales, Amnesty International, and HeartUK, they will race against each other to become the first person ever to climb the height of Mount Everest from sea level on an artificial wall. 738 ascents each of the 12m high wall in one day. Whoever completes the task first, after what we anticipate to be some 15-20 hours of continuous climbing, will set a new Guinness World Record.

Ridiculous? Impossible? Moronic? Perhaps. But this is not just a vain attempt to steal 15 minutes of fame, this is an attempt to do some real good in the world. We are doing this in support of three charities; Mountain Rescue England and Wales, Amnesty International, and HeartUK. We want to raise a minimum of £10,000 for each of them. We hope that people will appreciate the extent to which we are pushing the limits of what is physically possible, and help us to push the limits of how much good two friends can do.
